WORKSHOPS PRESENTATIONS

FOR KIDS:

An interactive Power Point presentation with time for discussion and Q & A. I'm happy to work with teachers to help support what they are doing in the classroom. I also work with smaller groups on writing projects. Subjects covered: writing strategies, rewriting, different ways of approaching the same project. In-person, Skype or Zoom.

“Local author Sara Nickerson presented to my 4th & 5th graders yesterday about her new book and tips on the writing process. Her 40-minute presentation was fabulous. She’s an excellent speaker for 4th – 6th grade students. She highlighted many writing strategies and shared her biggest tip: focus on the rewrite. She also showed what her writing space (home office) looks like. The students loved seeing her messy desk with papers scattered on the floor.”

I work with writers of all ages and in many different settings. Past workshops have been offered through SCBWI, University of Washington Extension Writing for Children Program, and Seattle Public Library.
